My Personal Statement
Everybody is unique, he has own characteristics and has own story of his life, including me. My name is Desi Tresna Ekawati, it means the girl who was born lovingly on December. Exactly, I was born on December 11 th, 1989. Many people usually call me Desi or Ndes. I come from Sukabumi and have been living in Bogor since 2008 when I started to study in UIKA Bogor. I am the first daughter of two children. And I have one younger sister who is fifteen years old and has been studying in Vocational School 10 Bandung in the first grade. My parents are teachers of elementary school and they are my inspiration to be a teacher. My hobbies are listening to music, singing, and reading some books. First, listening to music makes me feel calm and relax. I usually do it everyday at my leisure time. Next, singing can lose my bored. The last, Reading some books gives me a lot of things such as an inspiration and a motivation. Actually, I prefer reading fiction to nonfiction, such as novel. Because I always get new imagination and motivation from the story that I have read. For example, I have read “Sang Pemimpi” by Andrea Hirata. From his story, I know the power of dream and I will make a big dream and make it come true. It makes me become an optimistic person to face better future. And it is useful to refresh my mind. Personally, I am quiet and shy person. I do not want to talk much with the people, and I am really afraid to perform in front of people to say and do something. But, since I have been studying in Educational English Department, I try to reduce them. Because I am a teacher candidate and I will become the leader of my students, so I have to be ready to lead them by my best performance. I was graduated from Elementary School 4 Cimanggu, it is near my house, so I just walk to reach it. Then, I continue my study in Junior High School 1 Cikembar. It is about seven kilometers from my house and I took two public transportations to reach it. I was graduated from it in 2005. After that, I studied in Senior High School 1 Cibadak. It is one of the favorite schools in Sukabumi and I am proud to study there. I was thought by wonderful teachers. They not only give the material by using the best method but also give motivation for me to face a better future. Ones more I get an inspiration to be a teacher from them. I was graduated from Senior High School 1 Cibadak in 2008. Actually, my ambition since I was child is I want to be a teacher and I got more inspiration when I was studying in my school. In my mind it is a lofty occupation. I am interested in being a teacher and the way they teach. So, after I had graduated from high school I started registering and joining the test to study in my dream university to become a teacher. In the beginning, I decided to become a mathematics teacher because I like mathematic and I like mathematics teacher in my Senior High School, she was Miss Tuti Suprapti. But, God had another plan for me. I could not study mathematics because some problems happen at that time. Now, I can change my mind that I am not a scientist candidate as I want before but I am a linguist candidate. I enjoy studying English. In my opinion English is fun and has many advantages for my life. In English we activate all aspects in our body, such as listening by using our ear, speaking by using our mouth, then reading by using our eyes and writing by using our hand. And now, I like English very much. Then, to become a good English teacher i have been studying English in UIKA to master all the materials of English. They will become my modal to teach for my students next. As we know that to become a professional English teacher we are not only have to learn and practice more in learning but also in teaching. So, I try to do it. I started teaching on October 2009 in BBC (Build Better Communication). I learned how to teach well there both by teaching and by sharing with other teachers. And by teaching, I know how to face the students with different characteristics even I still confuse about it but I try to understand them. Because by understanding they well we can easier to achieve an aim of learning. There are more aspects that I have to master, such us teaching method, technical method and so on. I learn about it in the university and apply it when teaching. Hopefully I will become a professional English teacher.
